Auditing and Alignment
I work alone and in concert with staff from local educational agencies and/or other organizations to:
- Identify the degree and nature of alignment of local or district-level objectives with state or national standards
- Identify the degree and nature of alignment of curriculum, instructional practices, and classroom resources with district, state, and/or national standards
- Examine current classroom assessment practices and recommend alternatives and enhancements
- Examine sample lessons and student work, and conduct observations, to profile teaching and learning within an instructional community
My per diem or per hour rates are determined based on the scope and nature of the service provided.
Training
I prepare and conduct (individually or collaboratively) workshops on:
- Designing and implementing effective classroom assessment strategies
- Improving student performance and engagement in reading and writing
- Applying understanding of the development, administration, and scoring of large scale assessments and the data they generate
- Designing and implementing performance-based instruction and assessment
- Preparing students for success on summative assessments
Technical Support
I work individually and collaboratively to:
- Interpret performance data and develop strategies for using results to inform instructional practice
- Identify meaningful and appropriate data analyses
- Design and implement alternative and/or supplementary reporting mechanisms for classroom, school, and district-level use
Test Development
I produce and/or conduct outside expert review of:
- Prototypes for innovative assessment items and tasks
- Conventional items (selected, brief, and extended constructed response) and related scoring tools
- Scoring training manuals and supporting materials
- Test specifications documents
- Standards documents
- Assessment frameworks
- Item writing guides
- Reviews and reports
Scoring
I provide leadership in:
- Rangefinding and anchor selection
- Development of scoring tools and scoring guides, training and qualifying sets
- Design and implementation of training and monitoring protocols
- Reader training
- Reader monitoring and recalibration
